There is a beautiful variety of quartz called citrine that jewelers love to put in their items. Citrine has an amazing pale yellow color that just pops when it is worn. This amazing gem is rarely formed naturally without human assistance. Most of the stuff that they sell in stores is actually heated amethyst or a smoky variety of quartz.
The leading producer of citrine is actually Brazil with much of its production coming from the Rio Grande do Sul. Citrine can be incorporated into wonderful citrine necklaces.
